SITILABS   Founders Gather in First General Assembly

SITILabs had its first General Assembly on May 02.05.2013, to approve its bylaws. This process, which was first formalized in October 2nd 2012, completes the legal process of becoming a private non-profit association model.

The first assembly held together the five founders, being COFAC c.r.l. - the founding entity - represented by Dr. Conceição Soeiro, who praised the initiative of the development of a model that seems to be capable of assisting in the strenthening of R&D activities developed within the context of University Lusófona.

As a private non-profit association founded by COFAC c.r.l., SITILABS is an R&D unit of University Lusofona dedicated to the dissemination and development of research in Informatics Sciences, SITILABS is focused on informatics systems and technologies, considering user-centricity as a core aspect that drives its R&D activities in networking and systmes; digital media; digital economy.

Until the end of 2013, SITILABS expects to have its new model fully operational, both in legal and administrative terms, thus becoming a role model for other units of similar nature in ULHT, and outside.

Spinning-off in SITILABS

SITILABS provides spinning-off support to its members in the form of scientific and technological couching; initial infrastructure conditions; project management assistance, and also access to partner investors.

A SITILABS economic activity spin-off is therefore based on scientific knowledge and/or technological know-how developed within SITILABS, University Lusófona. The SITILABS spin-off starts from a concept or an existing prototype and translates results in a commercial exploitation possibility, e.g. product or service. SITILABS keeps perpetual rights for scientific and academic exploitation.

WiNeMo Participation

SITILABS participated in the 7thCost IC0906 WiNeMo meeting, which took place in University of Coimbra, 14/15th May 2013.  In the meeting, SITILABS provided a demo of ICON, by Bruno Batista, and delivered a talk entitled "dLife: Opportunistic Routing", by Waldir Moreira. Paulo Mendes also represented the unit as the Portuguese MC member.
