1. Highlight: API 7th Think-Tank on Software Defined Networking
The 7th API Think-tank meeting, which took place in Universidade Lusófona on 22.06.2012, was dedicated to the topic of "Software defined networking: facilitating innovation". The event, organized by SITILabs, Universidade Lusófona (Waldir Moreira) in collaboration wit CPqD, GERCOM/UFPA, and INATEL in Brazil, brought together networking researchers in the context of SDN, as a way not only to faciliate innovation but also to discuss new directions in terms of networking. The programme counted with a keynote speech by Dr. Marcos Rogério Salvador (CPqD, Brazil) on SDN opportunities and challenges, followed by a session of Teasers (position papers) and a session of technological demos concerning SDN projects.
In this event, two symbolic awards were given to the best Teaser (Software Defined Networking: Perspectives, Requirements and Challenges, by Marcos Alberti) and to the best demo (Evolving the IP landscape with OpenFlow/SDN, by Christian E. Rothenberg, see video).
