José Faísca, coordinator of the R&D team EFFI (Experimental Facilities for Innovation) provide a demo of the Virtlab project (Virtual Laboratories in Federated Environments) in the 3rd API Virtlab is an internal COPELABS project currently supported by the School of Communications, Arts and Information Technologies . Virtlab applies virtualization techniques based on open-source software into federated environments having as goal to remotely support in a single sign-on way networking services. Virtlab is currently being applied within the context of University Lusófona.

Namusale Chama, reseacher of the Internet Architectures and Networking, IAN) has recently been invited to submit a paper to the IEEE Journal of Communications (JCM). The paper is entitled "A Discussion on Developing Multihop Routing Metrics Sensitive to Node Mobility" and is focused on the analysis of networking parameters that may assist a more robust multihop routing development for wireless networks with a highly dynamic network/node movement.

3. THIRD API THINK-TANK DEBATES VIRTUALIZATION

The 3rd API Think-Tank took place on 09.12.2010 in Aveiro being hosted by University of Aveiro/IEETA.

The Think-Tank agenda included a brainstorming session dedicated to the debate of network virtualization; two project demos; a position paper (Teasers) session.

API is a national support action dedicated to the debate of paradigms related to Internet services and Technologies and has as 2010 Steering Committee COPELABS, Universidade Lusófona (coordinator; Universidade de Aveiro/IEETA/IT; Universidade de Coimbra; Portugal Telecom Inovação, Nonius Software.

4. COPELABS ORGANIZES EUROITV 2011

The 9th international conference EuroITV, worlwide leader within the context of media related to video and TV will take place between 29.06.2011 and 01.07.2011 in lisbon, being jointly organized by University Lusófona (R&D Units COPELABS and CICANT) and by LINI (Lisbon Internet and Networks Institute). EUROITV includes four main R&D tracks in 2011: i) Human-Computer Interaction; ii) Media, Social and Economic Studies; iii) Systems and Enabling Technologies; iv) Interactive Contents and Arts.
