Summary:

ArdWorks is a series of Hands-on Arduino workshops organized by COPELABS, University Lusófona with CoWork Lisboa in the field and which has as main goal to ignite augmented reality development based on low-cost and user-friendly technology. ArdWorks events are targetted to students, geeks, teachers, or simply people with basic programming skills willing to better deal with immersive technologies.

This first event - ArdWorks I, augmented reality with Arduino, small toys - is dedicated to a hands-on demonstration of relevant interfacing aspects and to the deconstruction of a specific project that is based on several Arduino sensors and actuators, being the motivation to assist the audience in understanding how to start to interact with a virtual identity (avatar).

The workshop lasts for a day - see our agenda next. Morning attendance is free and dedicated to introducing Arduino as a basic interfacing technology, its main components that are useful for immersive environments.

The afternoon sessions (fee based) are dedicated to an in-loco demonstration of a basic project that shall be explained to the audience. Such project allows the audience to interact between the real and virtual environments. Attendants will learn the basics of Arduino as interface to the real world and will also be able to take the Arduino project kit home.

Fees and registration: Registration fee comprises afternoon sessions, coffee-break and lunch at CoWork. Taking the Arduino kit home requires an extra 50 Euros. Payment accepted: bank transfer or cash only. To register, please e-mail silvia dot prata at ulusofona dot pt providing:

Registration fee: 70 Euros plus 23% VAT, until 15.06.2011
